Our Club Hombegowda Skating Club (HSC) has been functioning
since 2001. We started with 6 skaters and over the last years we have had the
good fortune of getting several thousands of youngsters to enjoy the sport of
Roller Skating as a hobby, as a recreational sport and as a serious sport.
We practice every day from Monday to Saturday at
the roller skating rink at Corporation Playgrounds, Hombegowdanagar, 10th
Cross, Wilson Garden, Bengaluru 560 027. We are available at the rink everday
from Monday Evening to Sunday Morning from Morning 6:30 am to 9:30 am
& Evening 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Our Mentor - The President of our club and our mentor Late Sri.K
B Uthappa, fondly referred to as “the father of skating” in Karnataka has
been the strength of our club since inception and continues to inspire us in
our endeavors. “Uthappa Uncle” to our little children, he has been instrumental
in the development of the sport of roller skating in Bangalore and other
districts of Karnataka. He is responsible for many of the several rinks that
have mushroomed in Bangalore these past few years and the entire skating
fraternity of Bangalore will continue to remain forever grateful to him for his
immense contribution to the field.
Our Coach - Our coach Sri. A Anthony James is one of the
pioneers of roller skating in the state of Karnataka. With over 45 yrs of
experience and involvement in the roller skating movement in India, he
continues to inspire the little boys and girls who look forward to adopt the
sport of roller skating. He started skating at the age of 9 yrs and has
won several laurels in speed, artistic, figure and pair skating. He has
been named “National Speed Champion” for several times during his skating
career. He was the recipient of the prestigious “Dasara Award” awarded by the
government of Karnataka for excellence in the sport of Roller Skating in the
year 1986. He has also been the Indian Team Coach for the World Championships
in 2011.
He has been training skaters for the past 30 years
and has mentored several youngsters who have gained richly under his care and
guidance. Several of them have won laurels for themselves at the State and
National levels. Several have also had the honor of representing our country at
the World and Asian Championships like, Arun Vishwanath, Gautam Purushotham, Dr
Dauphin Kuriakose, Nikitha Harish, Neha Harish, Nischitha Veerendra, Charitha
Reddy, Brinda Cariappa, Madhu, Myna among others and his own children Jonathan
James and Julainna James who is also an international Skater
Our coach also trains at a sister concern the Domlur
Roller Sports Skating Club (DRSCC) which practices every day from
Monday to Saturday at the BBMP roller skating rink under the Domlur Flyover,
Old Airport Road, Bengaluru. We are available at the rink everday from Monday
Evening to Sunday Morning from Morning 6:30 am to 9:30 am & Evening
3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Services :
Equipment – A lot of importance is given to the right and
best equipment. The skates and required accessories are available at both the
rinks for purchase. The coaches asses the skater and depending on the
requirement suggest the right equipment and arrange to procure the same as
well.
Age Criteria - Any one from the age of 4 years and above can
learn the sport of Roller Skating and both rinks are equipped to handle skaters
of any age group
Dress Code - Skaters are requested to abide by the dress code
which is t-shirts and tights or skin suits as these are the best for the sport.
Products Available - Skates, Wheels, Bearings,
Safety gear like helmets, knee pads, elbow pads and skate bags are all
available at the most reasonable prices in the market
Fees - Admission fees are charged at the time of
enrollment and is inclusive of one set of beginners equipment. Thereafter a
nominal fee is charged on a monthly basis. The fee details and mode of payment
will be available at the respective rinks
